Description

We offer personalised gift vouchers for all of our courses as well as open vouchers which are redeemable against any of our courses for the amount specified on the gift voucher.

Our Gift Vouchers are an extremely popular gift for people who love the outdoors and wild food, they provide the chance to learn more about wild food from passionate and knowledgeable professionals.

The leader for our courses are professional foragers with many years of experience working with international brands, charities and conservation projects as well as incorporating wild food into daily life.

Our courses take place mainly in North Wales, UK in carefully selected locations including private woodlands, beautiful stretches of coastline and fungi-filled forests.

Our courses don’t generally require any specialist equipment, a sample kit list is supplied below.

We recommend that you bring with you:

  • Comfortable walking boots or shoes suitable for grass, soil and occasionally sloping ground
  • Suitable warm and/or waterproof layers for the weather forecast that day
  • Bottle of water and maybe a snack
  • Notepad and pen/pencil

Attendees will need to be 18yrs old on the date of the course, or attending with their parent/s or legal guardian.
There is no strict lower age limit, but you can probably decide for yourself if your child will enjoy several hours of walking and listening to our instructors talk about edible wild species.

Will the course go ahead in the rain?

Yes, this course will take place in most weather conditions, including rain. We will contact participants directly if there is any need to postpone or alter the course.

Do you forage for mushrooms and edible fungi?

Yes – but each course is focused on what is available in that area at that time. The availability of fungi (and particularly the edible species) is dependent on many conditions including temperature, humidity and even soil disturbance. We always talk in detail about mushroom foraging and mycology, but we cannot guarantee a good selection of edible species in the area on any given date.

Will I be able to take foraged items home with me?

During our courses you will have opportunity to taste some foraged edibles and will learn how to take your foraging to the next level through the use of appropriate guidebooks and sources of information, however we won’t be collecting any species in quantity to take away from the site.

Can I bring a dog?

Please see individual course information – when we do allow dogs they are required to be under close control at all times and are their owner’s responsibility entirely.

Are there toilets on site?

Please see individual course details for specific information.

Is this course suitable for me?

If you have any concerns or questions then please contact us and we can discuss this with you. By booking a place on any of our courses (for yourself or others) you/they are agreeing to our terms and conditions and that you/they are physically capable of safely attending this course which takes place on tracks, slopes and often unprepared ground.

Richard Prideaux

The primary instructor for this course, Richard has spent the majority of his adult life working in the great outdoors. He specialises in foraging, wilderness skills and survival in remote areas.

Amongst other things he is a qualified mountain leader, spent several years as an active member of one of the North Wales mountain rescue teams and regularly appears on screen and in print talking about foraging, bushcraft and survival and other essential outdoor skills.

Richard lives near Ruthin in North Wales.

Amy Green

Amy Green grew up between Manchester and the Peak District and has always spent as much time as she can outside; walking, climbing trees, taking photos and studying the life around her.

Since moving to Wales over a decade ago, she has worked in wildlife conservation and developed her knowledge of foraging, ethnobotany and bushcraft. As well as being proficient in these subjects, Amy is interested in heritage skills and can scythe, build dry stone walls, lay hedges and undertake ecological surveys for a number of different protected and rare species. She also enjoys cooking with wild ingredients and makes amazing flavoured gins out of foraged edibles.

Amy lives near Ruthin in North Wales.
