Wild Food People

We have been fortunate enough to be able to run foraging and wild food courses in North Wales continuously since 2010 – both here in Denbighshire and over on the rugged Snowdonia coastline.

Although we offer courses from April onwards, our busiest season – by far – are September, October and November.

We still have places left for our 2024 Foraging and Wild Foods, Coastal Foraging and Mushroom Identification courses – plus vouchers for the 2025 season.

This was the first course we offered back to the public 14 years ago, and remains by far our most popular public course.

It takes place in a privately-owned woodland near Ruthin, following ancient tracks through a mixed habitat of native and common species – from riverside to meadow.

During the 4-hour course we will cover the principle edible, toxic and useful species in the area, plus the laws, ethics and ecology of harvesting wild plants and mushrooms.

Suitable for all experience levels, and led by a professional forager with 20years of experience as an outdoor professional.

A shorter course that covers the common edible species of plant, seaweed and shellfish that can be gathered by hand along the British coastline.

These coastal foraging courses take place on a beach near Porthmadog over on the Eryri coastline. They last for around two hours, and are timed to coincide with low tide.

Suitable for all experience levels, and led by a professional forager with 20years of experience as an outdoor professional.

While not strictly a foraging course, this mushroom ID course is essential for anyone who wants to gain confidence for their mushroom foraging journey.

We explore a variety of habitats and aim to identify every single mushroom species we come across – as well as covering fungal ecology, identification methods and harvesting tips.

Suitable for all experience levels, and led by an ecologist, in partnership with a professional forager with 20 years of experience as an outdoor professional.

Each year we offer course gift vouchers for all of our public courses – as well as vouchers for a fixed amount (for those who will want to choose for themselves!)

You can select the gift voucher options on the dropdown menu for any of the foraging and identification courses, and even choose between a digital or printed voucher.

We have a full guide on how it all works over here – or simply contact us for more information.

Every year Wild Food People run a calendar of foraging and wild food courses in North Wales.

From forests and meadows to seashore and coastal – all of our courses are focused on food, ecology and giving participants the confidence to go and find these foods for themselves.
